Our Lambing Live Barn is open!
Spring is always a very special time here on the farm, with the arrival of lots of adorable baby animals. This year feels even more exciting, because we’ve opened the doors to our Lambing LIVE Barn!
Some of our lucky customers have already witnessed lamb births over the last week and hopefully learned more about how farmers work during this busy time in North Wales!
Lambing So Far
It has been a very busy start to our own lambing season… with 21 lambs already welcomed to the farm since early April. Over the next couple of weeks, we’re expecting 15 more of our ewes to give birth. Our Lambing Live barn acts as a maternity unit for our pregnant sheep, where we keep a close eye on them up until they give birth.
Once in labour and the lamb is born, the mums are kept in their own pen for at least 48 hours. And when our farmers are confident that both mum and her lamb(s) are happy and healthy, they’re moved out into the fields.
We are lucky to have Farmer Lowri who has been doing an incredible job leading the way this lambing season, with support by both Farmer Owen and Farmer Katherine who bring plenty of lambing experience from their own sheep. Farmer Mal has also been a huge help assisting with the births – so we’re in great hands! But, as with all lamb birth’s, things don’t always go completely to plan.
In one of our birthing cases, an ewe was scanned to be carrying twins. Her first lamb arrived safely and without any help. After an hour, the second hadn’t arrived yet, which can be a little concerning! Farmer Owen stepped in for an assisted lambing, and thankfully it arrived just fine.
Farmer Lowri helped to assist another ewe that had been in labour for quite a while. Once he arrived, mum took a little longer than usual to form a bond with the lamb – we thought we might need to bottle feed him and raise him ourselves! Eventually mum did take to the lamb, and she began to clean and feed him.

Before you arrive
Before you visit us, there are a few things to remember, including:
👢 Wear appropriate footwear
🧼 Wash or sanitise hands before and after visiting the lambing barn
🚶♀️ Use designated walkways and viewing areas
👨👩👧 Supervise children closely
⚠️ Please note:
🚫 Do not enter restricted pens, or climb on gates and fences
🚫 Sorry this is not suitable for pregnant women!
