Meet Our NEW Baby Alpaca!
We’ve got some very special news from the paddock… a beautiful baby alpaca has arrived!
Early on Monday morning, Pearl gave birth to a gorgeous little boy, and we’ve named him Dill.
Dill’s First Few Days
Dill made his entrance on a very cold morning at around 10am – and he certainly kept everyone on their toes!
He arrived headfirst (which is quite unusual, as alpacas are usually born feet first), so things were a little tricky. But with the help of Farmer Kathryn, he was delivered safely and soon made his debut into the world.
Not long after, Farmer Lowri arrived and quickly noticed that Dill was struggling a little. He hadn’t stood up yet – something most cria do within just 15 minutes – and his temperature was a concern.
To give him a helping hand, Dill was tube fed to try and give him the boost he needed. When he still wasn’t quite where we wanted him to be, he was brought down to Manorafon for some extra special care (and an unexpected passenger seat adventure with Farmer Morgan!).
Wrapped up warm and closely monitored by the team, Dill spent the day in Cwtch Corner, gently gaining strength with plenty of care, warmth, and a few more feeds along the way.
By the evening, he was already looking much brighter… and even fluffier too!
Settling into farm life
After a few days of rest and recovery, Dill was strong enough to head back outside with mum.
Now, the pair are enjoying the fresh air and settling into life in the field together – and you might even spot them as you arrive at the farm!
